OESTROGEN: Oral contraceptives contain oestrogen and therefore can aggravate the condition of cellulite. High fiber diets help to bind to excess oestrogen and in that way help to reduce the formation of cellulite. LACK OF EXERCISE: Try to exercise at least three times per week, for at least 45 minutes per session. If you want to lose weight by exercising, you must aim to maintain your heart rate at 70% of your maximum heart rate capacity during exercise. To work out your maximum heart rate, subtract your age from 220 beats per minute. SMOKING: If you smoke try to stop or cut down drastically. In the time that you cutting down, take a vitamin C supplement to replace the vitamin C that is broken down by the nicotine. STRESS: To counteract stress take time to relax. Find a hobby you enjoy or just read a good book that you enjoy. SUN EXPOSURE: When spending time outdoors, always use sun block and wear clothes that protect you against exposure to the damaging effects of the sun. It is crucial not to follow fad or crash diets. These types of weight loss methods only add to the weight problem and alter the metabolism. In simple; crash diets simply lowers the metabolism as your body believes that it is time for famine and the metabolism slows down in an attempt to conserve energy reserves. Follow a well balanced diet high in low Glycaemic carbohydrates and fiber and low in saturated fats. Spread your water intake over the whole day and evening. Remember, the two liters does not include caffeine containing drinks like coffee, tea (black and green), and cola drinks. A glass of water may be substituted by a cup of hot water with fresh lemon juice in it or Rooibos tea without milk or sugar. CAFFEINE AND SUGARY DRINKS: Avoid caffeine containing drinks such as coffee, tea and cola drinks. ALCOHOL: Limit the use of alcohol and if you do have the occasional drink remember to drink extra water to make up for the dehydrating effect of alcohol. HIGH SALT INTAKE: Avoid refined, processed, or fatty foods found in fast and convenience foods. Also avoid foods that contain unnatural preservatives, colourants, additives, and salt. CONSTIPATION: Avoid constipation by eating fruit and vegetables and drinking enough water. |
